E-mail Print PDF

The organizers replaced the bright yellow stripe by a golden one to match their carriages. On Saturday, August 12, 52 8055 run light engine along the river Rhine from Schaffhausen to Sissach, from where it hauled the  El Achai peace train over the old, steep Hauenstein line to Olten, continuing to Oensingen. The old Ed 2 x 2/2-Mallet locomotive took the train to Balsthal. After lunch the guests had been hauld back to Sissach likewise. 52 8055 spent the night at Sissach to be shown at the local festivities the next day. The return journey to Schaffhausen was light engine again.

Steam Trips with 52 8055 and Paddle Steamer "Hohentwiel" on May 19, 2013

E-mail Print PDF

Hohentwiel Raddampfer

DLM and VDW (Verein Dampfzentrum Winterthur = Steam Centre Winterthur) organize a combined steam excursion with steam locomotive 52 8055 and the splendid paddle steamer "Hohentwiel". The "Hohentwiel" is the only surviving paddle steamer on Lake Konstanz. Contrary to the other paddle steamers in Switzerland, the "Hohentwiel" does not provide regular timetabled service.  DLM has chartered the ship for the day to enable individual passegers to travel on it. We offer the opportunity to book a combined trip covering steam train and paddle steamer. Those preferring steam train only or cruise only may do so.

Please find more information on the pamphlet (in German) below.
